Hunting
McCurtain County is a hunter’s paradise. Abundant with native species the rugged unharmed public lands offer something for every hunter. Located in the southern part of the county, Red Slough and Little River National Wildlife Refuge offer some of the finest waterfowl hunting in Oklahoma. Some of the largest concentrations of eastern-strain turkey in the state are in the area. Deer are prolific along with squirrel, raccoon, cottontails, swamp rabbits, coyote, bobcat, opossum, gray fox, and beaver. While not yet plentiful, quail can be found on the outskirts of timber harvest sites and thinned pine plantations. You can enjoy all of this while staying in one of our Broken Bow cabins.
***All Oklahoma state hunting regulations, fees, and seasons apply on public land in McCurtain County. Hunting is not permitted on state park property. Hunting guides are available at most visitor centers and wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold. You can find more information and buy a permit online at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
ATV Riding
ATV Rules – Rules prohibit 2 riders on a vehicle unless it is designed for 2. Most “straddle type” ATVs are designed for only 1 rider. ATVs with bench seats can have more than 1 rider. Riders under 16 years of age must wear a helmet.
If you are riding on US Forest Service property there is no extra permit required. Three Rivers W.M.A. trails are not available year round and require a deer hunting license to ride. All ATV related regulations are subject to change. Riders should check with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation for Three Rivers W.M.A or the U.S. Forest Service for the latest updates.
